New Year News

Hard to believe that 2017 is already well under way! It's been a long time since my last post, but with good reason, between moving and  Christmas, it's been a hectic and busy time. There is so much news, and I'm looking forward to sharing it all with you, but in manageable, easy to Di-Gize (see what I did there - LOL) bites,
For now the biggest news is that the Young Living catalogue for Canada has exploded with previously unavailable products, particularly in the NHP category. The ones I was most excited about were the reappearances of Stress Away, and my favourite of all, Deep Relief. It was Deep Relief that made me a believer in the power and efficacy of not just essential oils, but Young Living Essential Oils in particular. If you haven't tried this incredible formulation for aches and pains, you don't know what you're missing! My cousin has told me that that's the oil that she lends to people then never gets back because they find out how well it works. I'd be happy to give you a sample if you're interested; I am confident that you'll love it.
Stress Away is such a beautiful blend, the soft notes of vanilla really do just melt my stress away!
Flu season has been particularly nasty this year for some reason. There's not many people I know who haven't been felled by one bug or another to a
greater or lesser degree. Thanks to our household addiction to Thieves we have all stayed healthy this year: just another reason to NEVER be without a bottle. Add a dash of Oregano or Thyme and some Copaiba and you're set for whatever gets thrown or sneezed at you.
Lavender is always in my purse as well, as it is such a workhorse oil. I was certainly glad I had some the other day. We were performing at a nursing home and there was a sudden deafening feedback from one of the speakers. An elderly woman in the audience was so scared by it that she was shaking badly, on the verge of tears. I was terrified she was going to have a heart attack, so I grabbed my bottle of lavender, put some on her hand and told her to breathe it in deeply. I could see the shaking subside almost immediately and she calmed right down. That oil never lets me down!
Please check back regularly, this year I'm going to be running special offers and giveaways, so you'll want to keep informed.
Wishing you all a healthy, happy, oily year!
Your friend and mine,
Shannon

Greetings Oil Enthusiasts!
I'm very excited to invite you to an afternoon of information about the benefits of essential oils. It will be at the Shirley Community Hall at 2:PM, and I will be sharing a lot of the education I received at the Young Living Canadian Convention in Calgary at the end of August, as well as ways to use essential oils to live a healthier, happier life. There will be tea & coffee, a draw for a bottle of oil, and other treats. It's a couple of hours out of your day that will make a big difference to your life.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Your friend and mine,
Shannon

I can't think of a better way to kick off this page, than to share with you words written by my good friend and fellow oil-lover, Sherry Leigh Williams. Sherry is a gifted writer, painter, singer, among her many other tremendous gifts, and has a wonderful ability to not only express thoughts and feelings, but evoke time and place.

"Your home is your sanctuary—a place where life unfolds with family, friends, and memories. Here, you strive to live better, promote wellness, and create an environment for living with great purpose.
Having the best for you and your family is about being surrounded by all things healthy, natural, and non-toxic. Young Living is your partner in this pursuit. From the cleaning products you use to the toothpaste in your medicine cabinet, your home is the place where total wellness begins."YL
I love, love YoungLiving Essential Oils!I have recently had the fall flu, cold that is going around. With Thieves Oil in my arsenal I am confident this will be a few days before it is gone.
My first encounter with essential oils was after my car accident when I went to Reiki and an aromatherapy massage with my friend Renata Essihos. I could not believe how I felt afterwards. That was probably ten years ago now. Then I made another friend Shannon Lee Rae, who also has an interest in wellness and who introduced me to YoungLiving Oils. What a fantastic friend she is!
As a person with a delicate constitution, and endless allergies it was important to me that whatever I use, is pure, and safe. I have found these oils to be premium. They are pricier than the over the counter, made who knows where with what oils, but I think they are worth every golden drop.Recently I have caught the inevitable fall cold, and thank goodness I have Thieves Oil to fight the virus! If you have never heard of it, read on.
"While there are a few versions of the story they all centre around one event, the Bubonic Plague. It is said that, during that time, four thieves went from house to house to rob those who had succumbed to the illness. After the thieves were captured and tried for their acts of robbery, a judge offered leniency if they would share how they were able to be around those afflicted long and often enough to rob them but not be affected by the illness. It’s interesting to note here that, during this time of the plague striking Europe, physicians were seen wearing long black robes, wide brimmed hats, and masks that appeared to have a beak. The reason for doing this is that the masks were said to have contained a combination of herbs, spices, and essential oils that the physicians would breathe in order to keep themselves safe from those afflicted with the illness. Their long black robes were also said to be doused in a similar fragrant concoction and current research continues to build upon this theory. "
"THE HEALING OF THIEVES ESSENTIAL OIL
How did the thieves stay healthy and what were the herbs, spices, and essential oils used in the masks of the physicians?
There are as many recipes as there are theories for which aromatics were used during the time: some accounts say vinegar with a blend of sage, rosemary, rue, camphor, garlic, and cloves was best while other accounts say that garlic, cloves, and cinnamon were used. More mysterious than the original protective recipe is the actual story of how the blend came to be called “Thieves”.
What we do know, through extensive use and trial with the Thieves essential oil blend from Young Living is that a powerful combination of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary have been found to be strong enough to reduce bacterial cultures by 99.96%! This blend was created after years of research results indicated that most viruses, fungi, and bacteria cannot live in the presence of some essential oils.
The legend behind the oil is as unique as the healing powers it can provide to your system. While the product is more expensive than what you may expect for a small bottle of oil, the germ-killing power of Thieves is worth every penny and not only during the cold weather months when cold and flu strike. If you use an anti-bacterial soap in your kitchen or bathroom year-round, why not consider making it Thieves Foaming Hand Soap without all the harsh chemicals? Young Living also created Thieves toothpastes and even a household cleaner containing the powerful blend! I’ve seen the benefits of Thieves myself and have used the product recently to help keep my immune system strong while others around me experienced a nasty virus and am pleased to say that I didn’t catch it. While I take good care of my body, I can’t help but wonder if those four thieves had something to do with it too."
This fantastic blend is now available to all of us.Young Living makes the purest essential oils on the market today. I use mine daily in a diffuser, and also topically. There are so many ways to use them.

If you're in the Sidney/Saanich/Victoria area, please contact Sherry with questions or orders.

In health, your friend and mine,

Shannon
